It’s crazy to think that four weeks have gone by here at Salt! It seems like this semester is flying by, which, in many ways, is unfortunate. I feel like I could spend four years here and still be learning new things every day. So, I’m determined to make the most of what time I do have left by pushing myself to continually step out of my comfort zone and create quality writing pieces. The best thing about this program is the experiential aspect that forces you to hit the streets and talk with people. It can be daunting at first, but once you break the ice, you come to find that people are people, regardless of their positions. For me, one of the most challenging parts of the writing process right now is figuring out how to keep the essence of a story alive when I’m limited by word count. It’s a matter of editing, editing, editing. It’s also a tool that writers possess–the ability to shape multiple drafts of stories for different audiences and occasions. Well, back to it!
